On February 28 shorty after 7a.m. Mt. Penn was dispatched, along with several mutual aid companies, to 2447 Grant St. for smoke coming out of a window. First arriving units reported heavy smoke and called a working fire. On entry it was found that the fire was in the basement with some extension to the floor above. Chief 1(Theodossiou) requested a second alarm to bring additional manpower to the scene. As fire suppression and ventilation efforts were underway it was discovered that the first-floor stability was compromised. Several lines were used to extinguish the fire with under control being called at 7:27a.m. with extensive overhaul required. Units began to be released shortly thereafter. This fire is under investigation at this time.
