New rescue truck in service

Mt. Penn’s “new to us” rescue has been placed in service as of January 27 when it returned from getting the final work done on the steering, suspension and equipment mounting.  Several members are already qualified on driving and operating it and the remaining ones should be done within a few weeks.  The officers would like to say thanks to everybody who put in many hours of time and effort working towards this goal.  GREAT JOB!  We look forward to many years of service for this truck!

On another note, after being in service less than 24 hours, the rescue was dispatched to Oley Turnpike Rd. & Perkiomen Ave. in St. Lawrence to assist Exeter (Co25) with a vehicle crash with injuries.  Two vehicles impacted there and then moved to a nearby parking lot with the involved parties suffering minor injuries.  Crews assisted EMS with patient care and packaging for transport.  All units were able to clear in less than 30 minutes.  Lt. 1-1 (Okonski) got the privilege of driving R1 to it’s first official call.
