Pedestrian struck in Lower Alsace

On January 17 at 5:30p.m. Mt. Penn was dispatched to assist Lower Alsace (Co4) on a pedestrian crash in the 800 block of Carsonia Ave.  Deputy 4-1 (Mountz) arrived first and immediately requested EMS to expedite and the northbound lanes of Carsonia Ave. shut down.  Arriving apparatus crews assisted the ambulance with getting the patient secured and loaded into the ambulance as well as providing ligting for the initial police investigation.  The patient was taken to Reading Hospital while additional personnel finished securing the immediate area to bystanders and traffic.  The incident remains under investigation by Central Berks Police.

Penn Fire Company is to protect the lives and property of the people of Mt Penn from fires, natural disasters, and hazardous materials incidents; to save lives by providing Rescue services; to prevent fires through prevention and education programs; and to provide a 100% Volunteer work environment that values health, wellness and cultural diversity and is free of harassment and discrimination.
