Mt. Penn Fire Company

Splintered start to the Weekend

On July 20th at 10a.m. Mt. Penn was dispatched for a report of a tree on a house in the 200 block of Endlich Ave.  It was fairly quickly determined to be 263 Endlich which is in Lower Alsace Township so Company 4 was added to the assignment.  Arriving units found a tree that had split and fallen onto a house, which according to the property owner, had taken place the night before.  Crews secured utilities and turned things over to a tree removal crew on site.

On July 21, shortly after 2p.m. the Rescue was dispatched to assist Exeter (Co25) at Oley Turnpike Rd. & Prospect St. in St. Lawrence for a reported vehicle crash with injuries.  Arriving crews found one car on it’s roof with a pole sheared and wires down everywhere.  The single occupant was able to self-extricate and was transported to the hospital to be treated.  Crews verified that nobody else was in danger or needed assistance while fire police from several companies handled traffic in the area due to the traffic lights losing power.  Mt. Penn was able to return within a half hour although it was expected that Met-Ed will be on the scene for many hours this evening.  This crash remains under investigation by Central Berks Police.
