Exeter Township Structure

On August 11, 2016 about 8:15p.m. Mt. Penn was dispatched on the second alarm as the second Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) for a working structure fire at 35 Pine Ave. in Exeter Township.  Responding companies reported a working fire as they were leaving their stations as the smoke column was quite visible.  Once they arrived they found a pole barn fully involved with exposure problems to neighboring houses and vehicles.  A second alarm was quickly struck to bring additional personnel and tankers to the scene.  Ladder 1 crews staged as RIT and eventually were stood down in order to assist with overhaul and relief of personnel since the hot and humid weather in the area has not diminished over the past week.  Fortunately the fire was prevented from spreading further than the building of origin although there was some damage to the adjoining houses from the radiant heat.  Crews were able to clear around 10p.m. and the fire is currently under investigation.
