Mt. Penn Fire Company

HAPPY 4TH!

Well here we are in July already!  The temperatures are soaring in the past few days and the holiday is almost here.  With that said, please do your best to keep cool this week.  Drink plenty of water whether you are inside or out, limit heavy outdoor physical activity as much as possible and try to stay in the shade when you are outside!  Check on your friends and neighbors, especially the older folks to be sure they are OK.  Don’t forget your furry friends as the same precautions for humans apply to them.

This week also means fireworks.  The laws in Pennsylvania have changed which enables any adult to purchase class C fireworks.  Although there has been quite a bit of confusion over definitions and how the law was phrased we would like to present a few highlights below:

Buyers must be over 18 to purchase fireworks.

Fireworks can not be discharged from or toward a building or vehicle.

Fireworks users must have permission from the owner of the property where the fireworks are to be discharged.

Fireworks can not be used within 150 feet of an occupied building.

Fireworks can not be used by someone under the influence of alcohol, drugs or controlled substances.

If you are not sure about fireworks leave it to the pros and see one of the several fireworks displays planned around the area this 4th of July!

We hope you enjoy your holiday and have a great time.  Remember to drive safely and buckle up!  Please take a moment Wednesday to remember what the holiday actually  means and why we celebrate.  There are so many who have sacrificed so much, including their lives in order to preserve and maintain our independence.
